European Championships 2015 Update Report

We are now 11 weeks away from the 2015 AETF European Championships, being held in Motherwell, Scotland from 22nd to 25th October. Preparations are well under way with the organisers working hard to make the 30th Senior & 21st Junior European Championships a great success.

We are pleased to announce some special guests of honor who will be in attendance, namely Grand Master Pablo Trajtenberg IX Degree – ITF President, as well as the ITF Executive Committee. From AETF the guest of honor Mr. Efraim Barak. Mr. Barak is legal adviser to the AETF and will attend the championships alongside his wife.

The European Championships are being held in Ravenscraig Regional Sports Facitlity, a newly developed state of the art facility, which played host to athletes prior to the 2014 Commonwealth Games, as well as the 2011 International Children’s Games. The championships will take place in the largest of the halls, a 3G Football pitch, with 5 matted areas, full sized warm-up area as well as dedicated podium. a separate area is also sectioned off for VIP guest and sponsors to view the event from the best vantage point.

As part of the preparations the organizing committee, are currently working hard to secure special price’s & discounts in many of the local restaurants, all of which are within walking distance of the venue. (pictures attached). As well as on site catering at reduced costs. We’d like to inform the participants that there will be a very good selection of foods on offer at lunchtime in the venue, and in the local area. The umpire’s will be dining in the Ravenscliff Restaurant, which opens this week, directly opposite the sport centre.

We are working in partnership with our Hotel agents who have organised hotels within Motherwell and the surrounding area to host all participants, and arrange transport on the days of competition to and from the venue for all participants staying in the official hotels. So far we have confirmation from a number of countries, and the first of them have booked their accommodations. We kindly ask those countries who have yet to get in touch with the hotel booking agent to contact them with estimated numbers of attendees in order to better prepare for accommodating all participants. They can be contacted on

We will soon release the t-shirt for the championship, which will be available to purchase in advance, and pre-order for collection at the event, as well as spectator tickets, which will be available as single day tickets or a four-day ticket to watch the whole championships. More details will follow very soon.

As part of the preparations for the championships, Scotland will also play host to the 3rd ICC Course in the same venue over the weekend of 19th & 20th September. More information can be found here.

In the meantime, we shall keep working hard behind the scenes to deliver the best European Championships to date, and look forward to welcoming you all to Scotland in October.
