The annual congress of the All Europe Taekwondo Federation (AETF) took place at the prestigious Lublin Conference Centre as part of the European Taekwon-Do event in Lublin, commemorating the federation’s 45th anniversary. Discussions included topics on constitutional changes and the selection of the host for the 2025 European Championships.
This significant congress of the European Federation occurred amidst major European Taekwon-Do tournaments, such as the 38th AETF European Taekwon-Do Championships, the 29th European Junior Championships, and the inaugural European Pre-Junior Championships.
Representatives from 32 out of the 37 AETF member countries attended, along with special guests including the President of the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF), Grand Master Paul Weiler, former AETF presidents, and other important figures. We were also honored by the presence of the Honorary President Master Loboda and former presidents Grand Master Bos and Grand Master Coos. Additionally, a special guest was Vice President of the European Taekwondo Union (ETU), Mr. Jesús Castellano, who graced the event with his presence.
The President of AETF, Master Leonardo Oros Duek, and the Secretary General, Mr. Yavor Tasev, presided over the agenda on behalf of the entire AETF Board of Directors.
Following the approval of financial and board reports, the organization of the 2025 European Championships was entrusted to the Taekwon-Do Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Bosnia and Herzegovina Taekwon-Do Federation won the bid after convincing AETF delegates to approve the next European Championships in Sarajevo, repeating the successful experience of 2019.
Another significant topic was the amendment of the AETF Constitution. AETF Vice President, Master Virginia Dionisi, along with Maciej Bałaziński, AETF legal advisor, presented a summary and arguments for amendments that will be sent to member countries.
These amendments will be discussed throughout the year with the aim of adoption at the next AETF Congress in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 2025. The AETF’s objective is to encourage cooperation and discussion to achieve the necessary consensus for adopting amendments needed to align European legislation with that of the ITF.
