1st AETF European Qualifying Umpire Course – A Strong Start for a New European Pathway

This past weekend, the AETF proudly delivered the first European Qualifying Umpire Course (EQUC) of the season in Maribor, Slovenia—a key milestone in our shared mission to professionalise and unify officiating standards across Europe.

Led by AETF President Master Tomaz Barada, and supported by AETF Vice-President Paco Ferrando, Grandmaster Wim Bos, and the AETF Umpire Committee (Sbn Rory, Sbn Camila, Sbn Jackie), the course was an outstanding success—well structured, highly practical, and delivered with a very close and supportive approach to every participant. Their leadership, energy, and constant attention throughout the weekend created a strong learning environment and reinforced confidence in the direction of the programme.

The course also benefited from the valuable contribution of the AETF Technical Committee, with Master Orlando and Master Suska, who supported the practical components and reinforced key technical points linked to judging performance. This strong cooperation between committees demonstrates the professionalism and unity behind the AETF development system.
A particularly motivating highlight was the high participation of young umpires, showing that a new generation is eager to be part of this European pathway. This is exactly the direction we want: building a strong future for European events through education, fairness, and consistent standards.
The EQUC is not an isolated initiative—it is part of a wider AETF project that connects directly with the AETF European Ranking System and the Active Umpire Program, creating clear development pathways and official recognition for both athletes and officials across Europe.

📸 Photos & videos from the weekend will be added here to showcase the atmosphere, the training sessions, and the strong European spirit that made this first edition so special.

Join the project. Get involved. Become part of the European officiating pathway.

Together, we are building a modern, transparent and united future for AETF Taekwon-Do ITF in Europe.
