On August 2nd, 2025, the AETF Technical Committee, chaired by Grand Master Willy van de Mortel, with the presence of all newly appointed members; Master Mark Hutton, Master Jaroslaw Suska, Master Orlando Saccomanno, Master Lilian Doulay and Master Alexandru Muresan, convened in Helmond, the Netherlands, for a productive strategic meeting focused on enhancing the technical direction and cooperation within the European Taekwon-Do community.
Key highlights of the meeting included:
- A strong emphasis on improving collaboration between AETF and ITF, with a proposal to initiate dialogue between both Boards and their Technical Committees to promote shared understanding, aligned instruction, and coordination in teaching content.
- A proposal to launch a new high-level technical event: the AETF Technical Course, aimed at Instructors, Masters, and Grand Masters. This event would serve as a cornerstone for unifying technical knowledge and strengthening the European instructional base.
- A structured event format was proposed, including:
- 1 to 1.5-day format (Saturday to Sunday morning),
- 4 technical blocks per day (2 per half-day),
- Dedicated Q&A sessions,
- A formal application process for countries wishing to host.
During the session, the committee also developed the draft structure for the course and carried out hands-on practice sessions in the hall, supported by photos and video documentation to assist future planning.
This meeting signals the beginning of a new chapter for the AETF Technical Committee, placing cooperation, clarity, and development at the heart of its mission.
