AETF Establishes Scientific Partnership with the Academy of Physical Education in Biała Podlaska

The AETF Anti-Doping & Health Promotion Committee is pleased to announce the establishment of a new scientific partnership with the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw – Branch in Biała Podlaska (AWF Biała Podlaska). This cooperation represents another important step in strengthening evidence-based practice, research and education within the European Taekwon-Do community.

The partnership is based on a Letter of Intent signed between the European Taekwon-Do Federation (AETF) and the Academy of Physical Education in Warsaw – Branch in Biała Podlaska. The agreement provides a framework for long-term cooperation in the fields of scientific research, education, athlete health, injury prevention and the development of innovative projects supporting safe and sustainable participation in Taekwon-Do.

During a meeting held on 19 June 2026, the signed Letter of Intent was formally presented to the AETF Anti-Doping & Health Promotion Committee. On behalf of the University, the document was signed by Professor Jerzy Sadowski, Vice-Rector for the AWF Biała Podlaska Branch, confirming the University’s commitment to developing joint initiatives with the AETF.

The meeting between Katarzyna Cupryś, Chairperson of the AETF Anti-Doping & Health Promotion Committee, and Master Dr. Zbigniew Bujak (VIII Dan) in Biała Podlaska provided an excellent opportunity to discuss future areas of scientific cooperation and several promising research projects that could be implemented under the newly established partnership.

These include:

  • research on fall prevention and active ageing through Taekwon-Do training programmes for older adults;
  • development of a European injury surveillance system aimed at improving athlete safety and supporting evidence-based competition rule development;
  • scientific research on the psychological profile of elite athletes and factors associated with sporting excellence.

The partners also agreed to cooperate in building a European repository of scientific knowledge on martial arts by exchanging research publications, educational resources and evidence-based materials relevant to Taekwon-Do.

The discussion further highlighted the importance of modern coaching methodologies and innovative approaches to athlete development, reinforcing the shared commitment of both institutions to combining scientific knowledge with practical coaching experience.

This partnership strengthens the AETF’s growing network of academic collaborators and supports the Committee’s strategic objective of promoting research, education, athlete health and evidence-based practice across Europe. The AETF Anti-Doping & Health Promotion Committee looks forward to implementing joint research initiatives and educational activities that will benefit athletes, coaches and the wider Taekwon-Do community.
