The AETF Umpire Committee successfully delivered the second online session of the AETF Active Umpire Training Program, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, education, and consistent communication across European Taekwon-Do.
The session welcomed 150+ participants from over 30 countries, highlighting the strong engagement from umpires, coaches, and athletes in the evolving AETF education pathway.
Session highlights included:
Clear explanation of recent ITF rule updates and their application at AETF events
Detailed overview of AETF-specific adaptations for the European Championships 2026
In-depth focus on pattern scoring, including:
Return to simultaneous pattern performance
Introduction of a revised dual scoring system (technical deductions + positive scoring elements)
Clarification of sparring procedures, including clock control and enforcement of avoiding-sparring rules
Overview of the umpire selection process for the AETF European Championships in Maribor
Open Q&A session, allowing direct discussion with the committee
The session was led by Sabum Rory De Vries, Chair of the AETF Umpire Committee, with valuable contributions from committee members and AETF leadership. The open and interactive format was once again highly praised by participants.
These sessions are a core pillar of the AETF Active Umpire Training Program, aimed at raising standards of fairness, consistency, and professionalism across European competition.
